Offensive Rookie of the Year: Zay Jones, WR, Bills: After trading Sammy Watkins to the Rams, who signed former Bills receiver Robert Woods in the offseason, and the retirement of Anquan Boldin, Jones was thrust into the No. 1 role. The former East Carolina receiver is the FBS all-time leader in career and single-season receptions. Jones had an excellent preseason and could be looking at a big year as Buffalo’s top receiver.
Defensive Rookie of the Year: Reuben Foster, LB, 49ers: After a season-ending shoulder injury to Malcolm Smith, Foster was thrust into a starting role and made the most of it during the preseason. Foster was viewed as one of the most complete defensive players in the 2017 draft class after recording 115 tackles, with 13 for losses and five sacks, last season for Alabama.

Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, whose six-game suspension was put on hold by a judge’s order Friday, said he is happy he will finally get a chance to prove my innocence.
On Monday, Mazzant did order the NFL Players Association to file a response to the NFL’s request for a stay by Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET. The NFL will have until 6 p.m. Friday to file its response.
If the judge will not reverse his decision, it’s not clear how quickly an appeal will be heard. If Mazzant’s initial decision is overturned, then Elliott’s suspension could go into effect immediately.
